They are among the most successful and undoubtedly among the most popular projects of the European Capital of Culture 2024 Bad Ischl Salzkammergut: The gourmet laboratory in the former train station restaurant in Bad Ischl and the culinary festival in Gmunden under the title “SalzkammerGuad”. The hospitable initiatives made for fully booked restaurants with exceptional flair and created a special atmosphere for unforgettable evenings or afternoons. They have not only appealed to people from all ages and walks of life, but also, through their cooperation with local tourism schools, have shown young people from the region new options for designing a specifically Salzkammer-good gastronomic culture.

So what could be more obvious than to thank the numerous supporters of the Capital of Culture 2024 in proven hands in order to give it a hospitable expression. For the sponsors personally invited by Elisabeth Schweeger and Manuela Reichert, Jochen Neustifter and Christoph Held and their young teams cooked a four-course menu for the first time, a “best of” previous culinary events.

In the densely staffed dining room, there was a lively atmosphere around the lovingly prepared delicacies and cheerful speeches, which gave the bullfinch island string music from Ausseerland a truly cultural capital flair, mixing grounded tradition with globally long-lasting musical influences in its pieces of music.

The topic of sustainability also marked the beginning of the event: The welcome drink was taken on the upper floor of the station building and gave visitors the opportunity from the Capital of Culture partner andys.cc to get to know modern-appealing co-working spaces in a formerly unused, prominently located site.
